The CVT: a fluid that has to grip
A CVT moves a belt or chain between two pulleys that change width. The fluid has to lubricate and cool, and it must also let the belt grip the pulley faces without slipping. That friction behaviour is specific to CVT fluids, which is why a CVT should only get the fluid type Exeed names for it, never a dual-clutch fluid or a generic automatic fluid.
The dual-clutch versions: same idea, different boxes
The 6DCT and 7DCT both pre-select the next gear on a second clutch, which gives quick, stepped shifts. Exeed's brochure does not say whether their clutches run wet or dry, or whether the two gearboxes share a fluid specification. Six gears versus seven means two different units, so we treat each one separately until the VIN confirms what is fitted.

- CVT: engine revs flare without matching acceleration, a whine that rises with speed, or a shudder from rest.
