Geely UAE's Emgrand page lists a 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT). A conventional automatic of this kind uses automatic transmission fluid (ATF) of the type Geely specifies, which is a different product from CVT fluid or dual-clutch fluid. Some earlier Emgrand versions used other gearbox types, so the VIN decides. ShipMyPart has not verified the fluid type, quantity or interval and confirms them by VIN before supplying any.
The current Geely UAE page lists a 6-speed automatic (6AT) for the Emgrand. Older cars on UAE roads, or cars imported from other markets, may have a different gearbox, and each type takes a different fluid. Our first step is to read the gearbox from your VIN; nothing is quoted before that.

Fluid specifications for this model are confirmed by VIN on request.
A conventional automatic pulls away through a torque converter, a fluid coupling between engine and gearbox, and changes gear by engaging clutch packs with hydraulic pressure. The fluid therefore transmits power, operates the valve body, cools the converter and lubricates the gears. When it ages, shifts become slower or harsher and the converter runs hotter.
| Fluid | For | In an Emgrand 6AT? |
|---|---|---|
| ATF (Geely-specified type) | Torque-converter automatics | Yes, the type in the service data |
| CVT fluid | Belt or chain CVTs | No |
| DCT fluid | Dual-clutch gearboxes | No |
These are possible signs, not a diagnosis; stored codes in the control modules help a workshop pinpoint the cause.
ATF breaks down mainly through heat. In stop-start summer traffic the torque converter slips more often and the fluid has little chance to cool. If your Emgrand spends most of its life in city queues, ask whether your service book treats that as severe use for the gearbox as well as the engine.
Ask the workshop to confirm, from your VIN, the fluid Geely lists and the amount for the job; whether a transmission filter is changed; and whether the gearbox needs its adaptive values reset afterwards. A gearbox that clunks into gear may also need its mounts checked.

|---|---|---|
| Fluid service due | VIN and odometer reading | The ATF Geely lists for your 6AT, in the right amount |
| Workshop has diagnosed a fault | VIN and the workshop's finding | The part named, e.g. a 6AT gearbox or axle / CV joint |
Compatibility verification required
No fluid or part is listed here until its specification has been checked against Geely's requirement for your vehicle. Send your VIN and we will confirm what fits before you order.
Send your VIN (chassis number) and we will confirm the correct transmission fluid for your Geely Emgrand.
Geely UAE's current page lists a 6-speed automatic (6AT). Older Emgrand cars may differ, so we check by VIN.
Not if it has the 6AT listed on Geely UAE's page; a 6-speed automatic takes the ATF type Geely specifies.
The type named in Geely's service data for your gearbox. ShipMyPart has not verified it; send us your VIN.
We confirm the quantity by VIN; it is not verified on this page.
Follow the service book or a Geely service centre. We don't quote an interval until it is verified.
Possible causes include low or aged fluid, internal wear or a control fault. A workshop diagnosis decides.
