Every MG RX9 grade on MG UAE's 2025 brochure has an automatic transmission (AT) behind the NF2 2.0T engine. The COM 2WD drives the front wheels; the COM 4WD and LUX+ add four-wheel drive, which brings extra lubricated units. The automatic needs the transmission fluid MG specifies, and any 4WD unit oils are separate products. ShipMyPart has not verified the fluids, quantities, intervals or the number of gears, so we confirm your version by VIN.
| Grade | Gearbox | Extra driveline fluids |
|---|---|---|
| COM 2WD | Automatic | None beyond the gearbox |
| COM 4WD | Automatic | 4WD units (not published) |
| LUX+ 4WD | Automatic | 4WD units (not published) |
The brochure does not state the number of gears, so we don't either.

Fluid specifications for this model are confirmed by VIN on request.
In a torque-converter automatic, the fluid transmits engine power through the converter, applies the clutch packs that select each gear, lubricates gears and bearings and carries heat to the cooler. A fluid with the wrong friction or viscosity changes how firmly the clutches engage, which shows up as slipping, flare between gears or harsh shifts. That is why only the fluid MG lists for the RX9 gearbox should go in.
On the COM 4WD and LUX+, drive also reaches the rear wheels. That usually means a coupling or transfer unit, a propeller shaft and a rear differential. MG's published material doesn't say which of these has its own oil or how often it is changed, so ask for them by name at a major service on a 4WD car.
On the 4WD grades, mismatched tyres front to rear make the axles turn at slightly different speeds, which the 4WD system then has to absorb. Replacing tyres as a set, or at least by axle with the same size and brand, protects the driveline as well as handling.
| Symptom | Where a workshop may look |
|---|---|
| Slipping or flare between gears | Fluid level/condition, gearbox |
| Clunk selecting Drive or Reverse | Mounts, fluid |
| Rear whine rising with speed (4WD) | Rear differential |
| Drivetrain warning | Fault codes in the control modules |
Possible causes only; diagnosis needs a workshop.
Tell us the grade on your registration or the badge (2WD or 4WD) and send the VIN. We confirm each fluid MG lists for your version and can quote parts such as the automatic gearbox or axles once your workshop has diagnosed a fault.
Compatibility verification required
No fluid or part is listed here until its specification has been checked against MG's requirement for your vehicle. Send your VIN and we will confirm what fits before you order.
Send your VIN (chassis number) and we will confirm the correct transmission fluid for your MG RX9.
MG UAE's 2025 brochure lists an automatic transmission (AT) on all grades. It does not state the number of gears.
The COM 4WD and LUX+ grades are 4WD; the COM 2WD drives the front wheels.
Usually 4WD adds units such as a transfer/coupling unit and rear differential. MG doesn't publish which are separately filled; we check by VIN.
The fluid MG specifies for its automatic gearbox. ShipMyPart has not verified it; we confirm by VIN.
Follow the service book or an MG service centre. We don't quote an interval until it is verified.
Avoid it: mismatched tyres strain the 4WD system. Keep sizes and brands matched.
