Jetour T2 Coolant: Compatibility, Checks and Cooling Parts

العربية

Quick answer

Choose coolant for a Jetour T2 by its specification, not its colour: coolants that look alike can use incompatible chemistries. ShipMyPart has not yet verified the coolant specification, capacity or replacement interval for the UAE petrol T2 2.0T, so use the owner's manual or let us confirm it from your VIN. Check or top up the coolant only when the engine is cold.

Check your model year and VIN

This guide applies to the petrol Jetour T2 2.0T (4WD) sold in the UAE. The T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid has a different powertrain and is not covered.

The coolant Jetour specifies is listed in the owner's manual. If the manual is missing, or you are not sure what is in the system now, send us the VIN and we will confirm the correct coolant before you buy. Your registration card (Mulkiya) shows the VIN and the model year.

Compatibility matters more than colour

Coolant colour is a dye, and colours are not standardised between brands. A coolant is defined by its chemistry, meaning the corrosion inhibitors that protect the metals, seals and hoses in the cooling system, and by the specification it meets.

  • Don't mix types. Incompatible coolants can reduce corrosion protection and may form deposits.
  • Don't choose by colour. Two coolants of the same colour can be incompatible, and two of different colours can meet the same specification.
  • If you don't know what is in the system, a full drain and refill with the specified coolant is safer than topping up with a guess.

How to check the coolant level safely

  1. Park on level ground and wait until the engine is completely cold.
  2. Find the coolant reservoir and read the level against its minimum and maximum marks.
  3. If it is low, top up only with the specified coolant: premixed, or concentrate mixed as the manual and the product label instruct.
  4. Never open any cooling-system cap while the engine is hot. The system is under pressure and can spray scalding coolant.
  5. If the level keeps dropping, look for a leak rather than topping up repeatedly.

Overheating warning signs

  • the temperature gauge rising above its normal position, or a coolant temperature warning;
  • steam from under the bonnet;
  • a sweet smell from the engine bay, which can indicate leaking coolant;
  • coolant puddles or crusty residue around hoses, the radiator or the water pump.

If the engine overheats, stop safely, switch off and let it cool before checking anything. Repeatedly driving an overheating engine risks serious damage.

Cooling-system parts to inspect

  • Radiator: blocked fins or leaks reduce heat transfer.
  • Thermostat: one stuck closed causes overheating; one stuck open leaves the engine running too cold.
  • Water pump: a leaking seal or bearing noise are typical warning signs.
  • Coolant reservoir and expansion tank: cracks and faulty caps let coolant escape.
  • Hoses and pipes: check for cracks, swelling, softness and loose clamps.

Coolant and UAE conditions

Sustained high outside temperatures, long idling with the air-conditioning running and towing all increase the heat the cooling system has to remove. Fine sand and dust can also pack into the radiator and air-conditioning condenser fins at the front of the car and reduce airflow, so inspect and clean them as part of routine maintenance.

ShipMyPart has not yet verified the T2's coolant replacement interval; follow the owner's manual or your Jetour service centre.

Frequently asked questions

What coolant does the Jetour T2 use?

The coolant Jetour specifies in the owner's manual. We have not yet verified it for the UAE T2, so we don't name one; send us your VIN and we will confirm it.

Can I choose coolant by colour?

No. Colour is only a dye and is not standardised. Match the specification instead.

Can I top up with plain water?

Only as a short-term emergency measure to reach a workshop. Water dilutes the coolant's freeze, boil and corrosion protection, so have the correct coolant mixture restored as soon as possible.

Why does my T2 keep losing coolant?

Usually because of a leak: check the hoses, radiator, water pump, reservoir and caps. Have the system pressure-tested if you cannot find the source.

How often should the coolant be replaced?

Follow the interval in your owner's manual or from a Jetour service centre. We have not yet verified it, so we don't quote one.

Is the T2 i-DM covered?

No. This guide covers the petrol T2 2.0T only.
