Why the missing engine code matters
Oil requirements are set per engine, and engines are identified by a code, not by "1.5T". Several Jetour models use 1.5-litre turbo engines, and the official X50 sheet stops at "1.5T". Without the code, the safe route is the VIN: it identifies the exact engine fitted, and from that the oil specification in Jetour's service data.
That is also why we don't assume the X50 takes the same oil as another Jetour with a similar-sounding engine.
Port injection, turbo and what the oil does
On the X50 sheet the fuel is delivered by port injection (PFI): petrol is sprayed into the intake ports, so the intake valves are washed by fuel. The turbocharger, however, still depends on engine oil for lubrication and cooling, and a compact engine compartment holds heat after a drive. Oil that has aged or that does not meet the specified approval protects the turbo bearings less well.
A short checklist before buying oil
- Get the oil grade and approval for your engine from the owner's manual or by sending us the VIN.
- Buy enough for a change with a new oil filter.
- Replace the drain-plug washer to keep the oil pan dry.
