A pickup works its oil harder than a car
The POER is often loaded to the bed rails with tools, tiles or camping gear, and the engine meets that weight on every ramp and roundabout. The 2025 sheet puts peak torque between 1,800 and 3,600 rpm, the range a loaded pickup spends most of its time in. Low revs and high load squeeze the oil film in the bearings hardest, which is why the approval on the bottle matters as much as the thickness.
Turbocharger and heat soak
On the GW4C20B the turbocharger is fed and cooled by engine oil. After a run with a full bed or a climb out of a wadi, switching off immediately leaves the turbo bearings soaking in heat. A short idle first lets oil carry that heat away. Oil that has passed its life cokes faster in those conditions.
