On GWM UAE's 2025 sheets the petrol Wingle 7 has a 5-speed manual gearbox and the diesel has a 6-speed manual, with 4x2 or 4x4 drive (the diesel 4x4 uses a BorgWarner electric 4WD and an Eaton rear differential lock). Manual gearboxes take gear oil, not automatic transmission fluid, and the two boxes are different units. ShipMyPart has not verified any of the gear oils, quantities or intervals, so we match them by VIN.
| Version (2025 sheets) | Gearbox | Lubricated units to service |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol 4x2 | 5-speed manual | Gearbox, rear axle |
| Petrol 4x4 | 5-speed manual | Gearbox, transfer case, front and rear axles |
| Diesel 4x4 | 6-speed manual | Gearbox, transfer case, front axle, rear axle with Eaton locker |
Unsure? Count the forward gears on the knob: five means petrol, six means diesel.

Fluid specifications for this model are confirmed by VIN on request.
A manual gearbox is lubricated by gear oil that has to protect gear teeth under heavy sliding pressure and let the synchronisers grip so gears engage cleanly. Automatic transmission fluid is a thinner product for a completely different job. In a manual box it can cause notchy shifts and faster wear. The 5-speed and 6-speed boxes may also call for different oils, so the gearbox has to be identified first.
On 4x4 versions the transfer case and the front and rear axles each have their own oil. The diesel's rear axle carries an Eaton locking differential, which needs the axle oil GWM specifies for it. These units are serviced separately from the gearbox.
| Symptom | Possible area |
|---|---|
| Gears crunch when cold | Gear oil condition, synchronisers |
| Engine revs rise but the truck does not pull | Clutch slipping |
| Vibration from under the cab at speed | Propeller shaft joints |
| Oil on the inside of a wheel | Axle seal |
Possible areas only; a workshop diagnosis decides.
Axles and gearboxes breathe through vents. A hot axle pushed through deep water can draw water in, and fine sand can work its way past worn seals. If a Wingle 7 has waded or spent days in soft sand, ask the workshop to check the gearbox, transfer case and axle oils for milkiness or grit.
Tell us the VIN and whether your Wingle 7 is a 4x2 or a 4x4. A 4x2 needs one gear oil for the gearbox and one for the rear axle; a 4x4 adds the transfer case and the front axle. We confirm each product GWM lists and quote them as one order.
Compatibility verification required
No fluid or part is listed here until its specification has been checked against GWM's requirement for your vehicle. Send your VIN and we will confirm what fits before you order.
Send your VIN (chassis number) and we will confirm the correct transmission fluid for your GWM Wingle 7.
GWM UAE's 2025 sheets list a 5-speed manual for the petrol and a 6-speed manual for the diesel.
No. A manual gearbox takes the gear oil GWM specifies, not automatic transmission fluid.
Don't assume so. They are different gearboxes; we confirm each by VIN.
Yes. The 2025 diesel sheet lists BorgWarner electric 4WD with an Eaton rear axle differential lock.
ShipMyPart has not verified the quantities; we confirm them by VIN.
Follow the service book or a GWM service centre. We don't quote intervals until they are verified.
